Fire Resistant Exteriors
One of the biggest risks for homeowners in the Rocky Mountain west is wildfire. Now due to the nature of fire, no one can fully eliminate that risk. However, wildfire mitigation is a great place to start in your plan to protect your home. At Mountain Meadow Landscape we specialize in providing both the plan and the solution to your specific environment. Listed below are some of the common risks / solutions.

Roof Material / Gutters / Siding

Often times in a wildfire the first part of the structure to catch fire is the roof. Installing better materials not only raises your home's value, but also greatly increases its survivability of wind driven embers. Alongside this is the need to keep[ clean gutters. We provide gutter maintenance options in our lawn care packages to help reduce the buildup of combustable fuels on your roof. Finally, siding material can be a game changer in your homes survivability in a wildland fire event.
Decks
Another common combustable space on the exterior of a home is the deck. Older construction homes (and even new) often have untreated wood decking and framing. Modern building science has brought us WUI (wildland urban interface) rated materials such as composite deck boards, and steel framing. At Mountain Meadow Landscape we are proud to have an in house crew that specializes in building high end WUI rated decks.

Hardscape - Green Space - Irrigation
Moving out from the house, the next tier of protection is using lots of hardscape and green, irrigated spaces. Its common sense that irrigated green grass is much safer than dry, combustable materials. Stone features and gravel beds also go far in creating a defensible space around your home.
Mastication - Thinning
The final piece of the puzzle is to address excessive undergrowth in surrounding wooded areas around a home. When ground level brush goes unmanaged, it becomes ladder fuels for hard to stop canopy fires in the even of a wild fire. We offer Mastication (vegetation shedding, thinning) services, as well as exterior water supplies and fire defense systems.
